Lower 12 percent takeaway, other races from Gulfstream, Laurel & Golden Gate

LAUREL, Md. – The highly anticipated opening day of Santa Anita Park on Friday also means it will be one of five races as part of the popular Stronach 5.

The cross-country bet with a low 12 percent takeout will also include races from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields. The sequence includes three grass races and first-time special weight events for 2-year-olds from Santa Anita and Laurel.

The Stronach 5 starts at 16:19 with Laurel’s eighth race, a fascinating first special weight event for 2-year-olds on 5 ½ stadiums on the lawn.

Trainer Graham Motion sends two colts to make their debut. Northern Aurora, a son of Uncle Mo out of the graded winner Unspurned, was sold for $ 210,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, while Zatip, a son of Tapit out of Grade 1 winner Zaftig, is a Wertheimer and Frere home brood . Full of Mischief, a son of Into Mischief, who sold for $ 140,000 in May, makes his debut for Michael Trombetta. Godolphin LLC’s self-bred Holiday House, a son of More Than Ready, will also debut for trainer Michael Stidham.

The Stronach 5 will next head to Gulfstream for Race Eight, a 5½ stadium event for mares and mares on the mainline for $ 20,000. My Sarasota Star is based on the claim for trainer Georgina Baxter for the first time. The 5-year-old mare won four out of eleven starts in Gulfstream and finished first or second in four out of five starts in the distance. Dem a Wonder, owned and trained by Rohan Crichton, falls into company and brings Edwin Gonzalez into the saddle. Mastering Bela is aiming for her second win in a row for coach Carlos Munoz.

The third leg of the Stronach 5, Laurel’s ninth race, involves $ 12,500 riding the 1 1/8 mile on the turf. At the wide-open event, Mokheef comes to the class of trainer Suzanne Stettinius. Street Cry’s 7-year-old son has four wins on the turf. Forest Boyce is riding. Vincent Van Gogo has won three races in a row, two of them over hurdles. Wedged between hurdles at Colonial Downs and Tryon is a July win at Colonial at a mile. Neil Morris trains. Donji makes his debut for trainer Zoe Valvo, who challenged him at Colonial for $ 10,000 in August.

The Stronach 5 leads west for the last two stages. The third race of Santa Anita is a five-stage competition on the grass for two-year-olds. Trainer Doug O’Neill sends Del Mo and Beef Winslow. Beef Winslow, son of Honor Code, gets blinders and jockey John Velazquez after finishing seventh on his debut after a long trip. Del Mo, a son of Uncle Mo out of the unsportsmanlike mare No Lip Service, will make his debut with Ricardo Gonzalez in the saddle. Little Red Feather Racing’s Elevado, who finished fourth on his 9/11 debut, goes out for manager Mike Puype. Street Boss’ son raised $ 190,000 at auction in May. Trainer Peter Miller sends the second starters Roy C and Fight On Ron. Roy C finished sixth on the turf on his Del Mar debut in August, while Fight On Ron finished third in Los Alamitos on September 11th.

The fourth race at the Golden Gate marks the completion of the Stronach 5. Mares and mares with a $ 5,000 mark will go to six stadiums. Always in Vegas gets the rail and returns after an 11 month hiatus. Trainer Andy Mathis consists of 43 percent horses that have an interruption of 180 days or more. Arouse N Go finished second on August 27th for the first time as claimed by coach Jonathan Wong. Briton Tan is looking for her second win in a row.
